This study looks at forecasted dynamic line ratings in southern Idaho by using data from the High Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR) model for forecasted weather conditions. Several benefits exist when dynamic line ratings can be performed remotely. One example is that a forecasting system allows for pilot projects for utilities to be conducted without the need to have hardware weather stations installed at locations. Another benefit of forecasted dynamic line rating is that the dynamic line rating system can be used to predict future ratings. Accurately forecasting dynamic line ratings transmission line also allows for greater situational awareness of the transmission line for any given point.
