Cable-Tec Expo 2019

Technological Advancements for Low Latency, High Capacity Networks (Room 225-227)

In this session, learn about a technique developed by CableLabs to use low-cost injection-locked Fabry Perot (FP) laser sources for coherent access applications. In this novel method, the child laser adopts the optical frequency and linewidth characteristics of the parent laser that is shared between multiple child lasers, significantly reducing the cost of a coherent optical transceiver. Then, Charter will present on a new solution to extend mmWave coverage, especially around corners, and optimally distribute the available capacity leveraging Charter’s existing assets. This solution will provide ubiquitous coverage of mmWave and 5G, while lowering CAPEX.
