S27 ABA - 2019 Government Contract Update: Challenges of Building for the Federal Government in 2019 (Room Palos Verdes 7)

Contracting with the federal government presents unique challenges that contractors do not experience in the private sector. In this session, government contract practitioners and in-house counsel will present trends in federal contracting for 2019 to include the movement toward multiple award contracts and alternatives to design-bid-build contracting vehicles with federal agencies. Additionally, panelists will summarize the significant cases and legal decisions issued in 2019 by federal courts and the United States Boards of Contract Appeals.

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:
  • Understand the challenges of building for federal agencies, to include the unique aspect of sovereign immunity and the regulations related to federal  contracting.
  • Understand the popular contracting vehicles being used by federal agencies in 2019 and the unique challenges that these vehicles present.
  • Understand the significant case law and decisions issued from state and federal courts as well as the United States Boards of Contract Appeals in 2019 and trends in the legal industry related to federal contracting.
