UTC Telecom & Technology 2019

Spectrum Sharing (Room 203A)

As we all know, spectrum is a finite resource that is becoming increasingly needed for our country’s wireless needs.  Late last year, the President issued the National Spectrum Strategy, requiring the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to explore how to make more effective and efficient use of spectrum.  UTC and its members have also been advocating for additional spectrum.  This session will explore how utilities could share spectrum in the 406-420 MHz band, including efforts underway to explore such sharing internationally.  Additionally, attendees will learn about efforts for utilities to share spectrum in the 4.9 GHz band with public safety.
