Recruiting the Next Generation of Building Engineers Part 2: A Continued Discussion from BOMA 2018 (Room Salt Palace, Room 251C)

Commercial & Corporate real estate professionals need to prepare for the recruitment of the next generation of building engineers. In a nationwide survey of over 1,000 HR managers and recruiters, 86% reported that they find it challenging to find and hire technical talent and 75% think the time-to-fill for roles has increased in the past three years. More than half (53%) of respondents hired people who weren't exactly qualified based on skill and ability because they needed to fill the position immediately. The result of this: 83% believe it has hurt their business and or increased team tension and employee burnout. In 2018 it has gotten progressively worse and 2019 will be the most extreme year commercial real estate has witnessed.
