Tracks: Human Factors

As autonomous vehicle (AV) technology advances closer to our everyday reality, transportation planning organizations across the U.S. are collecting data about residents’ attitudes toward these new technologies to inform long-range planning. The North Florida Transportation Planning Organization (Jacksonville, FL region) conducted two surveys in 2017-2018 that collected attitudinal AV data from a combined 10,121 respondents. This poster describes the results of those findings, particularly as they relate to resident demographics.

These surveys asked respondents to report their overall interest in using AVs in the future, how AV technology may impact their travel behaviors, perceived benefits, and concerns about AV adoption. These findings demonstrate similarities and differences across demographics, including age, gender, and household income.
