Safely mobilizing men and women who are hospitalized will result in reduced caregiver musculoskeletal injuries, improved patient recovery, and lower injury costs. Workers compensation claims for patient handling injuries are in excess of $7.4 Billion. Numerous hospitals and healthcare systems have sustained successful safe mobility programs; others began programs and have faced challenges to sustain them; and others have not begun to implement evidence-based programs.
