In this session, Optum will take a 10-year look at the history of opioid analgesics and the impact they have had on our industry. They will review the rise of opioid use, the epidemic that sparked in the U.S., the programs that are now in place to control their utilization and costs, and alternative therapies to opioids that are beginning to become a larger part of treatment. Plus, they will discuss what they believe is the next big issue/medication/topic to watch in the workers’ comp industry before it’s too late.
