Big changes are in the works for Escape Games and Haunted Houses in the area of code compliance. The ratified 2018, the 2021 International Building Code has reclassified Escape Games as "Special Amusement" which places them under the same regulations as Haunted Attractions. There are also changes to the Special Amusement code section that effects both Haunted Houses and Escape Games.
