It’s happened to all of us. You are at your kid’s soccer game or neighborhood cookout and the topic turns to work. When you say, “I work at the landfill (or recycling center or collection route or energy recovery facility),” the criticisms and questions begin. Next time, don’t try to change the subject. Instead, change the tone of the conversation. Be ready to talk about the importance of your work and its positive community impacts.
