Leya Posey is an Insurance Examiner within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Science and Technology Directorate (S&T), Office of SAFETY Act Implementation (OSAI). Ms. Posey serves as a Technical Lead evaluating applications for SAFETY Act coverage, including those for four NFL stadiums, an iconic commercial facility, and security guard companies with nationwide deployments. Through collaborative efforts, she has worked to promote security capabilities at prominent and nationally significant venues and continues to incentivize the private sector to commit resources to security preparedness and resiliency. Ms. Posey is the Project Manager for Best Practices for Anti-Terrorism Security for Commercial Facilities. Her efforts helped S&T, in partnership with the National Institute of Building Sciences, release a set of best operational security practices for metropolitan commercial office buildings and a corresponding web- based methodology to assist building owners and managers in performing security assessments. Before joining OSAI, Ms. Posey supported DHS’ International Cooperative Programs Office, engaging with foreign partners to foster government-to-government cooperation in broad research areas related to protection of critical infrastructure and homeland/civil security. Ms. Posey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Howard University.
