Second-generation dealer Steve Bassett represents the Volvo, Mack, Hino and Isuzu brands and employs 180 people at three locations in Indiana and Ohio. After working at his father’s GMC Truck dealership in Muncie, Indiana, during high school and college vacations, Bassett graduated from Indiana University and General Motors’ Dealership Management Development Program. He became dealer principal and owner in 1990. Over the next 30 years, he purchased a second dealership in Ohio, started a lease and rental operation and, most recently, built two new facilities. Steve is a four-time winner of Volvo Truck’s Dealer of the Year award for North America and has been nominated twice for ATD’s Dealer of the Year award. Bassett was a member of the Volvo Truck Dealer Council for 15 years, including two as chairman. He represented the Volvo dealer network as ATD line representative before being elected vice chairman of ATD in 2019.
