Dr. Reinhold Schneider is senior scientist at the German Institute for Textile and Fiber Research (DITF) Denkendorf. Dr. Schneider is chemist and received his pHD degree at the University of Stuttgart in 1992. His scientific work focuses on the field of textile printing, dyeing and finishing of textile materials. Conventional textile printing as well as the innovative inkjet printing technology and the digital functionalization of surfaces are subject of his main research. This work includes the formulation of color and functional inks as well as the physico-chemical pre-treatment for inkjet printing and functional coatings. In particular, electrically conductive inks have been developed, with the help of which electrical conductors and electrical switches could be printed on textile materials. Furthermore, sensors for composite materials as well as electroluminescent textiles have been developed. In addition, there are innovative invisible markings on textiles that are of interest for the protection against plagiarism. These and other works are documented in more than 200 publications, technical papers and research projects.
