Kleo King has worked in the accessibility field for over 30 years and at the NYC Mayors Office since 2014. Along with Commissioner Calise, they oversea the department’s work and advocacy. MOPD has steadily improved services and programs for the over 920,000 New Yorkers who are living with a disability as well as the approximately six million annual visitors to the city who have disabilities. Prior to joining MOPD, Kleo was Senior Vice President for Accessibility Services at United Spinal Association. Representative projects on which Ms. King has worked include: developing ticket policies for accessible seating with numerous professional sports teams and entertainment venues; ensuring new venues comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act and local building code requirements including Lincoln Center, Citi Field, Yankee Stadium, and Target Field; reviewing PepsiCo facilities for usability for people with disabilities and consulting with the New York City Housing Authority to ensure its legal compliance. Kleo served as the Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association's Committee on Delivery of Legal Services to the Disabled, the New York City Bar Association's Committee on Legal Issues Affecting People with Disabilities where she served as Chairperson, the United States Access Board’s Courthouse Access and Durable Medical Equipment Advisory Committees. Kleo received her law degree from George Mason University School of Law and is admitted to the Virginia and New York State Bars.
