Sean Hyde is an Electrical System Architect at Uber Advanced Technologies Group (ATG). At Uber ATG, Sean is responsible for self-driving vehicle system architecture, including its various components (sensors, user interfaces, computers, etc.) and how they are logically connected together. Prior to working at Uber, Sean worked at CMU’s National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC) where he designed a variety of autonomous and semi-autonomous robots destined for places such as South African gold mines, steel mills, Air Force bases, off-shore oil platforms, strawberry fields, and natural disaster zones. Sean’s work at NREC required rapid iteration of both hardware and software design, an approach he brought to Uber ATG when he joined the team in 2015.
