Bobbie Seppelt is a Research Scientist in the MIT AgeLab & Center for Transportation and Logistics. She has extensive experience in the assessment and analysis of driver behavior in the context of vehicle automation, attention management, and distraction. She is a technical lead on two academic-industry partnerships focused on developing next generation driver attention measurement tools, and on understanding ‘in the wild’ driver use of vehicle technologies in production-level driving automation systems. Dr. Seppelt is Chair of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Safety and Human Factors Committee on Driving Automation Systems and a core member of the joint ISO-SAE J3016 Working Group. She was recently featured on a PBS special “3 seconds behind the wheel” as well as an upcoming NOVA production on driver distraction. She is an author on over 50 technical contributions in transportation and related human factors areas, and has won multiple awards for her contributions.
