Justin McNew has 23 years of experience in communications systems engineering, standards development and product development. In addition to developing and deploying infrastructure solutions for cellular, WiFi, and location services, Justin has been very active in the development of connected vehicle technologies. He has led the development of a variety of connected vehicle technical standards, while also embodying those standards with the industry’s first commercially available V2X platforms. In 2013 McNew founded JMC Rota Inc., where he is engaged in various projects ranging from healthcare technologies to continued development of V2X standards and solutions, and he is now providing expertise in the field of cooperative automated vehicles and automated driving. Justin began his career with Motorola where he worked on the development and deployment of digital cellular. He then worked at TechnoCom Corporation, a startup based in Los Angeles, and led the Mobility Solutions group responsible for vehicle connectivity solutions and V2X. Mobility Solutions was sold to Kapsch TrafficCom in 2008 where Justin served as CTO for their US-based subsidiary. There he supported the development of RFID and camera-based electronic toll collection and commercial vehicle screening systems, as well as continued development of ITS and V2X offerings. Following Kapsch, Justin returned to the cellular industry where he was Vice President of Marketing and Product management for BTI Wireless, which developed small cells and distributed antenna systems.
