Rohit leads Sidewalk Labs’ work on mobility and sustainability technology. He teaches urban policy at Columbia University and recently chaired the Regional Plan Association’s Fourth Regional Plan. Previously Rit was at Bloomberg Philanthropies where he helped Mayor Bloomberg reinvent the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group; inaugurated an environmental program that granted $145 million under his management; secured Mayor Bloomberg’s appointment as a Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General; and advised several global cities as a consultant at Bloomberg Associates. Rit also was Director of New York City’s Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability, where he led the creation and implementation of the city’s first, groundbreaking sustainability plan, “PlaNYC: A Greener, Greater New York.” Prior to City Hall, he worked at McKinsey & Company. Rit holds a BA, MBA, and PhD from Columbia, and an MA from Queen’s University. He was born in New York City, where he now lives.
