Abby leads Kittelson’s national research on the impacts of transformational technologies related to smart cities and automated technologies. She recently wrote a brand-new guidebook for state DOTs and local agencies to understand and plan for the impacts that new technologies will have on land use and transportation. She is evaluating the mobility impacts of all four of the USDOT connected vehicle pilot deployments in Tampa, New York City, Wyoming, and Columbus, OH. Abby started her career at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) where she developed the agency’s first policies on automated driving systems, including automatic emergency braking systems.
