Leveraging the network’s edge for managed services – and especially gaming – can provide new opportunities for MSOs. In this workshop, attendees will learn how to classify gamers by game architecture, as well as desired performance metrics. Also learn about Cox’s work to build a software-based gateway on x86 commodity hardware, to distribute traditionally centralized components to the premise. Cox’s managed Wi-Fi offerings span small/medium business, enterprise, campus, hotels, hospitals and large venues. The discussion will include deployment methodologies when considering bare-metal installation versus an OpenStack/KVM virtualization, benefits desired, test strategies, and results to date.
