Evolving technologies such as distributed access architectures (DAA), Full-Duplex DOCSIS (FDX), virtualization and edge compute, along with 4G LTE small cell deployments, continue to push increasing amounts of complexity to the edge of the network. This requires operators to rethink how they train and inform the workforce to install, maintain and repair increasingly complex technologies. This session will provide real world examples of how companies are using both virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) to empower the workforce to deal with operational complexity more effectively. Midco will demonstrate how geographic information systems (GIS) technology is being used as an authoritative source to drive operational efficiencies and prioritize capital expenditures – with over 80% of employees directly using web-delivered tools. Shaw will provide insights on how to modernize field operations by combining GIS, proactive network maintenance (PNM), centralized workflows, and field service management into a single system.
