Distributed Access Architecture and the Evolution of Remote PHY DOCSIS (Room 243-244)

The early deployments of Remote PHY nodes, allowing for the migration to digital optics, will soon reach maturity. But what about the MAC, and how will these products evolve? One possibility is, of course, more large-scale adoption of full Remote MAC/PHY implementations. But might there be a happy medium, that strikes an optimum balance between Remote PHY only, and Remote MAC/PHY? This workshop features two proposals about how to evolve our networks, each with a different approach to a middle ground. Technologists representing Cisco will cover an R-PHY Remote Scheduler, and R-PHY 2.0.
